Our Mission
Israel Baptist Church of Baltimore city will evangelize, educate, and empower the believer and non-believer.
Our Beliefs
At Israel Baptist Church, our beliefs are rooted in the timeless truths of the Bible and the teachings of Jesus Christ. We are committed to living out our faith with love, integrity, and a spirit of service.
We believe the Bible is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It serves as our ultimate authority in all matters of faith, conduct, and salvation. Through its teachings, we find guidance, wisdom, and the revelation of God's will for our lives.
2 Timothy 3:16-17 (NIV): "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all things, infinite in power, wisdom, and love. We worship Him as the source of all life and goodness.
2 Corinthians 13:14 (NIV): "May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all."
We believe in Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who became incarnate, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose again on the third day. He is our Savior and Lord, the way to eternal life, and the example for how we should live.
Scriptures:
John 1:14 (NIV): "The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth."
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 (NIV): "For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures."
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who dwells within every believer, guiding, empowering, and transforming us. The Holy Spirit provides spiritual gifts and produces the fruit of a godly life, helping us to grow in faith and love.
Scriptures:
John 14:16-17 (NIV): "And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you."
Galatians 5:22-23 (NIV): "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law."
We believe that salvation is a gift from God, received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ. It is not earned by our efforts but granted through Christ's redemptive work on the cross. Through repentance and faith, we are forgiven, made new, and adopted into God's family.
Scriptures:
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NIV): "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast."
Titus 3:5 (NIV): "He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit."
We believe the Church is the Body of Christ, a community of believers called to worship, fellowship, and serve together. We are committed to supporting one another, growing in faith, and spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ to the world.
Scriptures:
1 Corinthians 12:27 (NIV): "Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it."
Hebrews 10:24-25 (NIV): "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
We believe in the ordinances of baptism and communion. Baptism is an outward sign of an inward transformation, symbolizing our identification with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection. Communion is a sacred act of remembering Christ's sacrifice and celebrating our unity in Him.
Scriptures:
Matthew 28:19 (NIV): "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit."
1 Corinthians 11:23-26 (NIV): "For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, 'This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.' In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, 'This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.' For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes."
We believe that our faith should be evident in every aspect of our lives. We strive to live according to the teachings found in the Word of God. We seek to be salt and light in the world, making a positive impact in our communities and beyond.
Scriptures:
Matthew 5:16 (NIV): "In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."
Micah 6:8 (NIV): "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God."
We believe in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. We look forward to His return, the resurrection of the dead, and the fulfillment of God's kingdom. This hope motivates us to live with purpose, joy, and anticipation of the glory to come.
Scriptures:
John 11:25-26 (NIV): "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?'"
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 (NIV): "For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever."
